Harry Lovelock
Past County Master, Past Provincial Grand Master, Authored Early History of Toronto Lodges
Born in England in 1851, Harry Lovelock, at the age of thirteen arrived with his parents in Toronto. He joined the Orange Association in 1871, first with Duke of York L.O.L. No.396, later transferring to Nassau L.O.L. No.4, both Toronto Lodges.
He was elected as District Master for the Centre District of Toronto in 1891 and 1892. Later Harry Lovelock served as County Master of Toronto (1900 – 1902), and as Grand Master of Ontario West (1911 – 1912). In the Black Institution, he held membership in Maiden R.B.P.96.

Harry Lovelock authored “Reminiscences of Toronto Orangeism”, in which he chronicled the first seventy years of the Lodge’s existence in the city of Toronto. The publication appeared in the 1902 Toronto County Parade Programme and included a couple of chapters on the formation of the County Orange Lodge in 1860.
A printer by trade, Harry Lovelock served as the Assistant to the King’s Printer at Queen’s Park for the last thirteen years of his life.
He served the Association for fifty-three years, and despite experiencing ill-health, never missed a meeting of L.O.L.No.4, fulfilling the Treasurer’s position at that lodge during his later years. Lovelock served as a Warden during his long association with St. Stephen’s Anglican Church.
Harry Lovelock passed away on April the 4th, 1924. His funeral service was held at his Spadina Avenue home and was conducted by the Reverend T. G. Wallace of St. Stephen’s. Harry Lovelock rests at Toronto’s Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
